Hello
friends,
I'm very excited to report that a new album is in the works
and will be out within the year!! The album will be recorded
this summer at Great North
Sound Society in Maine, and will feature all my latest songs, many
of which are my favorites yet. My longtime musical partner and guitarist,
Rich Bennett, and I will be producing the record, which
will be engineered by Sam Kassirer (Erin McKeown/Josh
Ritter/Langhorne Slim). Once again I will be joined by the wonderful
rhythm section of Dan Shuman on upright and electric
bass, and Russ Meissner on drums. This album is going
to be more compositional and layered than my last with lots of ambient
and twangy sounds. I can't wait to share this great new collection of
songs with you... and I'm gonna need your help to make it happen.
Gone are the days of major labels doling out huge advances for records
to be made. We are in a new sort of musical world, where artists are
funded primarily by their listeners. Committed fans of independent
musicians get the satisfaction of knowing their much-needed support
is going directly to their favorite artists outside the mainstream.
No middle man – what a beautiful thing!
Folks like you have already been so generous and supportive of my music.
Now I’m asking you to help me make this record possible. Donations
will be met with heartfelt gratitude and awesome thank you gifts. Find
out more about that here: http://rebeccapronsky.com/fundraising.html
The ultimate fundraising goal is $10,000. That may
sound like a lot of money, but it is actually quite low as far as this
sort of thing goes. Renting the studio space alone is $2,000. On top
of that, an engineer must be hired to do the recording, and the musicians
contributing their talent to the record must be compensated. Once the
recording is done, the CD must be mixed and mastered, both of which
are very important for sound quality. CD artwork must be designed and
the CD must be duplicated several thousand times so everyone can have
a copy. When you consider all the steps and people involved in the process,
it really adds up.
Some of you may be thinking "Yeah, but you're on a label. Don't
they pay for this?" And the answer is no. Their role is to cover
radio promotion and publicity for the album once it is done.
I have to make the album first and then they take it from there.
You can donate via PayPal or you can also e-mail me directly: rebecca(at)rebeccapronsky.com
if you'd like to mail a donation. There are suggested gift levels that
come with thank you gifts from me such as signed CDs, your name in the
liner notes, special unreleased tracks, tickets to shows, etc, but
your support at any level is meaningful and appreciated.

LEVELS AND THANK YOU GIFTS AND DONATE HERE.
Since my last full-length album was released in 2007, I've had many
adventures, touring all over the country, meeting lots of great folks,
sleeping on couches and in motels, playing with a terrific new band,
and releasing an EP. I've gotten to share the stage with some of the
best songwriters around, including Freedy Johnston, Steve Forbert,
Carrie Rodriguez, Patty Larkin, Eilen Jewell, and Loudon Wainwright
III, among others. And, most important of all, I found listeners
like you.
Thank you for all your support thus far. I'm so lucky I get to sing
and write and play music. With your continued help, I will make this
the best record yet.
All the best,
Rebecca
