After doing 50 shows in the first half of 2013, I’m gonna stay home and order a few pizzas. In spring we’ll have more US dates and a return tour in the UK. Until then, I’m gonna settle back into New York City, where it’s just about back-to-school time and soon we’ll be voting on a new mayor for the first time in 12 years.
After our big summer tour in July, I barely thought about music for the month of August. Rich and I went to Maine, way up north, where the accents are strong and the lobster is unbelievable. Learned about buoys and picked wild blackberries.
Hope everyone enjoys these last days of summer.
P.S. Most creative and ridiculous fan gesture yet! An animal sanctuary in Vermont rescued a number of former fighting roosters. A lovely fan of ours sponsored two roosters and, as their sponsor, got the naming rights to the birds…Pronskyand Bennettare doing well and are integrating nicely.
It was 90 degrees in NYC this past weekend and I just bought a bathing suit. Let’s call this what it is: SUMMER. And my timing couldn’t be worse. We’re touring as far south as Florida in JULY. Let’s see how many days break 100! YIKES. Many of the dates are with the full band. Here’s where we’ll be:
If you haven’t yet, please check out my brand new music video for “Better That Way,” the first single off the new album ‘Only Daughter.’ I’m really proud of it!
Reviews for ‘Only Daughter’ are still coming in. Here’s a few of the kind things folks are saying about the new record:
“Charming as usual… Rebecca Pronsky could probably sing the phone book and bring out subtle nuances in the listings with her penetrating voice. Her guitar-slinging husband Rich Bennett would throw in some rhythmic leads to bolster them too. The two of them, and a few friends, have been making beautiful music together on three albums (plus a few EPs and live disc) by using the best qualities of pure country and singer-songwriter styles.” ~ BLURT
“(4 STARS) “This collection of jaunty Americana proves to have the essential ingredients of being lyrically interesting and with hummable tunes sung with a voice malleable enough to ensure each of the ten songs has its own character.” ~ R2
“(4 STARS) Some critics, it seems, have a hard time defining New York singer Rebecca Pronsky… But who cares, when the result is as brilliant as Only Daughter – a much darker but no less impressive follow-up to 2011’s Viewfinder.” ~ COUNTRY MUSIC PEOPLE
“Part Stevie Nicks, part confessional troubadour, Pronsky sheds some of her Trad Americana skin on this outing, emerging as a cute but dark talent in the process. Atmospheric influences bring out the full range of her lean expressive vocalising and the songs boast depth and panache.” ~ DAILY MIRROR UK
All confirmed dates are listed on my show page. Hope to see you out there!
